People in science are our priority.
No research, no experiment, no innovation comes to life without a talented person dreaming about it first.
Most often then not the ideas are born outside of a lab. They are brought up in a small talk at a conference break, over lunch in a cafeteria, or at a random meet up walking around campus.
Then those ideas are formalised into hypothesis to be checked in a series of experiments, and the results will be published to share with the global scientific community.

We are glad that Core Facilities VTAN NSU are the ultimate solution for many measurement tasks in the low-dimensional structure diagnostics. We help talented people passionate about science to bring their ideas to life.

Our center is not just a set of high-end scientific equipment: it is people who work here. There are experienced specialists with a doctor's degree, able to solve any problem. And they are raising the new generations of young scientists, eager to dive head first into the research world.

Every economic decision is also done by humans. That is why it is so important for us to establish a personal contact as a base for a productive cooperation. We're always open for communication: you can schedule an excursion, meet us in person, ask your questions, and plan a collaboration.
Core Facilities VTAN NSU is formed as a part of NSU’s Physics Department to cary out structural-functional and technological research in solid state physics and chemistry, to study unique nano-systems and materials. Unique features of Core Facilities VTAN NSU
  • Location

VTAN NSU is located in NSU’s main building on Pirogova St, 2 (Novosibirsk), in the heart of Academgorodok. We are only a few minutes away from many research institutes.

Thanks to it, we are able to keep in touch with the customers and quickly deliver the samples and documents.

  • High level of expertise

It must be safe to say that VTAN is the only Core Facilities center where measurements are done by scientists with a phd. Thanks to their expertise, they are able to provide a solution for any request, and you will get the precise results.

  • Unique instrumentation pool

We have a selection of 30 scientific devices, some of them are the only units located East from Urals. And you are definitely unable to find another centre in Siberia offering such a wide spectrum of measurements.

  • Fast docuements flow

Getting the paperwork done from receiving a technical requirement specification to signing a contract takes 3 work days or less.
*it may take longer if your organisation has any special requests or requirements to change the our standard contract template.

Our partners

We’re always open to the new ideas and partnerships.

Send us your questions and feedback to nsm@nsm.nsu.ru.

There’s a long way ahead to develop and optimise the centre, with your needs in mind.

Please, always include Core Facilities VTAN NSU in the acknowledgement of your articles, when you’re publishing the results of our services.

Thank you in advance for the cooperation!
Standard wording for the acknowledgement:

Авторы благодарят ЦКП "ВТАН" НГУ за предоставление ресурсов измерительного оборудования.
The authors acknowledge core facilities “VTAN” (Novosibirsk State University) for the access to its experimental equipment.

This show of gratitude is completely unburdensome for the authors.
Mentioning VTAN in the acknowledgment does not interfere with showing gratitude to other grants and fonds for their financial help (RSCF, Ministry of Science, RFBR, Horizon, Basis Foundation, President's grants, regional grants etc), or mentioning other core facilities centres as well.

Meanwhile, the acknowledgment is necessary, since it is one of the reporting metrics required by the Ministry. In other words, it is vital for the stability and development of the core facilities centre: to update and maintain the devices, purchase the supplies and consumables for the experiments, etc.
